Can Hepatitis B Be Sexually Transmitted?

Dear doctor am ravi kumar and having problem of hepatitis B. 5 years back only i came to know it when i donated blood and haven't taken any treatment in this regard as of now. Doctor also told that my wife should take an injection to prevent herself from the same before haviing sexual intercourse for the 1st time itself. My age - 29 years , still not married.

"yes, HBV maybe transmitted sexually".

you may marry but be sure that your spouse has been immunized against HBV before having sexual relationship.

HBV can not be treated completely but complications and transmission can be prevented. "Liver enzymes and viral DNA" should be examined regularly.
if both are high, you are strongly recommended to initiate HBV treatment.
secondly, avoid sexual relationship if HBsAg and/or HBeAg is high in your blood and/or high viral DNA copies.
