Can Head Injuries Cause Concussions And Dizziness?

Hi, my brother who is 18 was running on the outside deck, he lost his footing and tripped over his feet, fell to the left and banged his head so hard on the big steal bar. He looked confused, he said his eyes went black for a second. He fell asleep for an hour, then he watched a movie. That was 4 hours ago, right now, he thought he was choking on a fishbone, so he panicked, and put his fingers down his throat. He said his ears were ringing from anxiety. He's an anxious person normally. I can see he's restless and worried about choking... He doesn't have a headache but he wants to go to sleep. He says his head is tender where he hit it, and feels tense. He is not dizzy, and his eyes are okay. He's laying down watching tv. He was lifting some boxes half an hour ago and stuggled and became wonky, but he is weak anyway. Does he have a concussion? The neighbours heard him hit his head, but they are close by. What will happen to him tonight or in the next few days?

You would be doing your brother a great favor by convincing him that he needs to get seen by a doctor right away. You don't want him going "wonky" on you in the middle of the night when things are more difficult to arrange and organize in terms of getting him to medical attention. Not only that if something bad were going on NOW and you did nothing about it...in several hours from now it will only be worse. Take action now. Go see a doctor then, rest more easily....both of you! I believe he's suffered a mildconcussion that deserves an examination.
