Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had vaginal odor for a very long time (almost 6 years) and havent had sexual relations with anyone. I do wear cotton underwear and a thin pad to collect any fluids that are released. Most times, fluid is light yellow/green and but can turn brown with some time. I also have not done any back to front cleaning when in restroom. I do have a thyroid disorder (Hashimoto Thyroidis) and was wondering if it was related. Can it be removed permanently? Can it be so called cured?
No hashimotos thyroiditis does not cause vaginal odor. The treatment for this is replacement of thyroid hormones by daily supplements. If the glands becomes too big and symptoms cannot be managed conservatively, then you may need to have either removed.
Vaginal odor and greenish discharge indicates bacterial infection and needs be treated afterafter confirming diagnosis. Please see your OBGYN asap to check and treat.
Please complete the full course of antibiotics. Stay well hydrated and avoid too much sugar and caffeine. Have yogurt with active cultures. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health
