Can Geographic Tongue Effect The Speech Development Of A Five Year Old Child?

Can geographic tongue effect my sons speech development? I have been worried about my 4 almost 5 years olds speech for some time now. I have addressed this with his Dr since his 3 year old sister speaks so much clearer than he does. Recently they told me he has geographic tongue and was just wondering if this could be effecting his speech development.

Hi,

The geographic tongue is a usual finding in children.
It is not a disease in itself.
Also it is not related to the speech development in any way.

Girl's speech development is sometimes faster than boys.

But if the child has slower speech development for his age, you should consult a speech therapy specialist.
