Can Fever And Pain In The Tailbone Be Due To Internal Hemorrhoid?

My husband is going in on Friday for a surgical procedure for internal hemorrhoids. He has been running a fever and has severe pain by his tailbone, to the point that he can barely walk. He is a big, strong, tough guy but this pain makes him literally shake. I am calling the doctor tomorrow but wondered if this is normal with hemorrhoids?
