Can Expired Monistat 1 Be Taken During Breast Feeding?

I just realized the discomfort I've had since I woke up this morning is a yeast infection, and the Monistat 1 that I had in the cupboard expired Oct 2012. I also am still breastfeeding my 22 month old daughter.
I live an hour from the nearest shopping center, otherwise I would just get a new one. A- Am I alright taking Monistat 1 while breastfeeding (insert says under dr supervision) and B- If so, aside from lower potency, am I alright to try the expired one?
Thank you

Hello and welcome to HCM,
You need to confirm the yeast infection by examination of the vaginal discharge.
Microscopic examination of the vaginal discharge can help to know the type of infection.
If yeast or fungal infection is confirmed, an anti-fungal cream can be taken but after prescription by a doctor.
In case it is not possible for you to wait for the test results, you should atleast get a clinical examination by a gynecologist.
Fungal infections are associated with itching and white curdy precipitate.
Expired anti-fungal is not advisable as it will be less potent.

Thanks and take care
