Can Excessive Alcohol Affect Blood Test Results?

Hi

I have just had my second ultraound. My spleen was 14.5 last time and is now 15. The radiologist said everything else was normal including my liver. All my blood work has come back normal and there has been no swelling in my lymph nodes. I am over weight and when l had my last scan l was just back from a two week all inclusive holiday in Mexico which meant quite a bit of alcohol. Haven't seen the haematologist since my last scan but saw him before and he saw my bloods and didn't seem too worried.

Any advice??

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Excessive alcohol can affect blood through malnutrition or bleeding in the gut.
2. Directly even though alcohol does not have any effect.
3. At present, your liver and spleen are functioning well. You need to reduce alcohol intake. If blood results are good, not to worry.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
