my husband has had eczema for 2 years. He has used all kinds of creams and steroids. One Dr. thought he had a fungus and told him to lay off steroid creams, he was off of them for l month. His legs itched him and he scratched his legs often, now his legs and feet are swollen. He was told to go to urgent care which he cannot do until tomorrow. He now can use steroid cream do you think that will help at this point in time for relief? Do you have any suggestions?
Hi. As per your case history of eczema, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a clobetasaol plus salicylic acid cream like clovate-sl twice a day on affected region. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
