Can Drugs Cause Long Term Mental Damage?

Hi. My sister has been taking methadrone (meow meow) for the past 12 months and professionals have been involved. However, she is now taking a long time to respond to me when I talk to her and it seems she is not in control of her movements, i.e. her hands jump about and she makes strange noises. She will not attend any Counselling groups for her problem. She says she hasnt got a problem and it is just a weekend thing. She also smokes cannabis on a daily basis which I assume is exacerbating the situation. Can drugs cause long term mental damage? Advice would be greatly appreciates.

Dear Laura,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.

The answer is obvious yes. No matter what she says it is clear that she is under ill effect of drugs. Cannabis and methadone can cause permannent damage to brain and it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Without treatment I fear she will not be discontinue her drugs.
Long term use of cannabis results in amotivation syndrome in which people loss any initiative to act.

I hope I am clear to you.
Thanks and regards
