Can Dizzy Spells And Nose Bleed Be The Side Effects Of Xarelto?

MY FATHER JUST STARTED ON THIS NEW MED LAST WEEK. HE HAD A DIZZY SPELL WHILE LYING DOWN, FOLLOWED BY A SMALL NOSE BLEAD. ARE THESE SIDE EFFECT OF XARELTO? HE IS 92 AND HAS BEEN ON WARFARIN FOR 5 YEARS. HE WAS DOING WELL ON IT. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT CHANGING ANYTHING AT HIS AGE. THANK YOU FOR ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN SHARE WITH US. SANDY

Hello,

xarelto may cause nose bleeding and perhaps even the dizzy spells you've mentioned. I can't say whether xarelto caused them in your father though. You've got to consult your doctor for that. Clinical examination information are vital in this regard.

An important question is why did your doctor change it to xarelto? Did he have any problems with warfarin?

Checking factor Xa activity may help. Factor Xa is targeted by xarelto. If it's out of the therapeutic limits, then the dose (and perhaps even the regimen) has to be reconsidered.

Kind Regards!
