Can Diabetes Be Treated Without Medicines?

hi doctor, I am recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes; I am 34 years old. My fasting sugar levels are 146 and H1AC is 6.5. Doctor put me on medication. I am perfectly fit and I exercise regularly. Please let me know is there any other way to pause the usage of medications

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Your fasting glucose levels of 146 mg/dl is definitely higher than the normal limits. Also HbA1c level with 6.5 is on the higher side of normal, which indicates the control of blood glucose is not efficient and hence there is fluctuations in your blood glucose level.
Hence, it is not possible for you to control blood glucose levels with diet and exercise alone and hence you need to take medications as prescribed.
With regular monitoring, based on the control of blood glucose levels, the dose of the medications can be altered at a later stage.
Kindly take the medications as prescribed and continue with your diet as well as exercise.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
