Can Dental Procedure Cause Itchy And Painful Hives On The Body?

Hello. I had a root canal on Monday and broke out with hives on Wednesday. I have clusters of blisters all over my body, concentrated on my hands, arms, ears, legs and feet. They are incredibly itchy and painful. Do you believe this is connected to my dental procedure?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that clusters of itchy and painful blisters all over the body after 2 days of root canal treatment can be due to allergic reaction and in case if you are taking any medications like antibiotics and painkillers then it can be due to allergic reaction to the antibiotic given to you leading to itchy rashes and urticaria or itching..
It is one of the common presentation of allergy to antibiotic that leads to rashes and itching..
In case if not other causes can be allergy to any food, skin cosmetic, detergents, soaps, poison ivy etc..

In case if you are taking any medication then immediately stop taking the same and consult your treating physician and get evaluated and he can give you injectable steroid and oral anti allergics like Allegra or benadryl to relieve the symptoms faster..
You can also be advised to apply steroid ointment over the rashes..
Doing cool compresses and applying Calamine lotion can also help..
