Can Crainiotomy Grow Despite A Past Surgical Removal?

Hi my son had a crainiotomy 10 years ago to remove a large brain abscess on his frontal lope when he was 10 years old, it was not all removed and it has stayed small in size, his neuro-surgeon said it may never grow any bigger so just to keep an eye out for symptoms, he had starting taking absence seizures now could it be growing, thanks in advance

Hi,

Epileptic seizures can occurs due to sporadic nerve stimulations in the brain. This can be due to brain tumors or any other structural /chemical changes in brain structure &function.

MRI would review. Any regrowth & Ifit is there (& causing the seizures), craniotomy would-be needed to remove the cause.

If it is not there &there is no other obvious cause, regular medication over 5 years span most of the time removes the symptoms.
