Can Cortisone Injection Cause Insomnia?

Can a cortisone injecion cause insomnia? I had one and took 2 tylenol pm that night to help with the pain and to get a better night's rest. I COULD NOT SLEEP at all and was up every hour. I am insulin dependent too and on an insulin pump and can not seem to get my sugar below 250. I am averaging about 2 to 3 units every hour to keep it there. How long will these highs last?

Hello !
I understand your concern.
Cortisone can cause mood disorders, insomnia. It is also called the stress hormone. It also increases your blood sugar . You need a higher dose of insuline to control your blood sugar.
Cortisone has a short half life and is biodegraded in a short period. I think these problem will resolve after 24 hours.
The next time for the pain you can try naproxene or ketoprofene for the pain instead of cortisone.
Hope to have been helpful!
Thank you for using HCM!
