Can Clostridium Difficile Infection Be Triggered By An Endoscopy?

Can C diff be triggered by an Endoscopy? I was very healthy and had normal bowel activity prior to the procedure. I ve had extreme diarrhea starting 24 hours afterward. It s been two days now. Wondering if it s just a coincidence that I now how so much diarrhea if it is just an ordinary bout of it or something that is suddenly of a more serious nature.

Yes, but it isn't very likely. The colon cleaning that goes on with it will change the colonic bacteria content BUT it does NOT distinguish between useful and harmful bacteria. The good bacteria predominate. However, if the colonoscopy equipment were not cleaned and were just used on someone with c dificile, the proceedure could transfer the c dificile. NEver heard of this actually happening.
