Can Brachytherapy Cure Early Stage Prostate Cancer?

I am 74 years old have a mild case of ulcerative colitis ( diagnosed 25 yrs ago) controlled by salofalk products and MEZAVANT. I have early stage prostate cancer (7 on gleason scale) and I d like to know if I can consider brachytherapy to treat it. I am in excellent health and very active, physically. I am fully aware that external beam therapy would not be an appropriate treatment for the cancer. I thank you in advance for your answer.

Hello,

As per my clinical experience, Brachytherapy does have efficacious results with many of the cancer conditions including that of prostate cancer. Its advantages do include local actions with avoidance of systemic side effects.

However, the curative role of particular therapy in current condition depends upon multiple factors as:
- Immune response
- Associated conditions of diabetes, general debility
- Nutritional status
- Ongoing active smoking
- Others
