Can Birth Control Help Regulate Periods?

I have been given birth control today for my irregular periods. It s lo loestrin fe. I want to regulate my periods because I plan to conceive. Right now I have no periods whatsoever. It s been about 10 months since I ve had one. My question is, can birth control regulate my periods enough so after about 2 months of usage, I can wean off the medication and have my own periods so I can conceive?

Yes, birth control pills can regulate your period, but it is not a guarantee that your periods will continue to be regular after you stop the pills. In fact, there is always a chance that your cycle may be irregular for few months after you stop the pills.

It is important with irregular cycles to know if you are ovulating or not. Because if you are not ovulating, you will need medications to induce ovulation to get a chance to get pregnant. If you are looking to get pregnant, you should discuss with your physician regarding testing to see if you are ovulating, and if you need medication to induce or boost the ovulation!
