Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder and this disorder occurs in episodes. In between episodes patients usually remain symptom free and can function normally. The disorder includes episodes of mania and or mania and depression. You are a medical student and had episode of mania. There is no reason to feel guilty about your behaviour during manic episode. Psychiatric disorders are treatable and are not considered as stigma. A bipolar disorder is like any other chronic medical disorder. As per my opinion no need to discontinue studies. I usually don't advise my patients to quit studies. Talk to your family members regularly and continue to take your medications as per prescription and continue to function normally. NO NEED TO QUIT STUDIES.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
