Can Application Of Gabapentin And Ketamine Powder On Gums Cause Rashes?

I jusyt use a powder for my gums which incudes gabapentin and ketamine. I have never taken ketamine before, but gabapentin, wich has never been a problem. Can applying this powder to my gums cause a severe rash on my legs and arms if I am allergic?I would think the rash would be in my mouth. Thanks

Hello,

The mucous membrane or skin of oral cavity is very thin, sensitive and permeable to toxic substances. In no case, you can apply or rub any analgesic or antibiotic powder on it without causing extreme discomfort and pain. Antibiotics and analgesic preparations for oral cavity have different formulations and concentrations than powders used for other areas of body.

You can take antihistamines (levocetrizine 10 mg or Avil or Loratidine) to control the reaction. However, if reaction is severe, you may have to take imtramuscular injection of antihistamine or corticosteroid from a physician or dermatologist.

Visit a dentist for examination of the gum problem that caused you to rub the powder on it.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Feel better.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shaj
