Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. M Agarwal's Response
Hello. Welcome to HCM.
Lymph nodes are draining sources for all body sites. They will respond to variety of organisms, by mild enlargement. in this enlargement the basic architecture of lymph node will be maintained, just the cells will show increase in number as a reaction to infection.
It is harmless but should not persist for long. If it does not subside, better to have biopsy of complete node, as sometimes focal areas may show granulomas.
Hope this helps. Take care.
