Can Antibiotics Be Given Often For Persistent Fevers?

Hi, my daughter is 6.5 months old. From past 1 month she had antibiotic thrice. Is it ok. First time she had novomox syrup since the fever was not coming under control. Second time she had taxim o syrup due to same reason. Third time I started taxim o syrup now, because she has cold, cough and fever from last Saturday. Is it ok to give antibiotics so often?

Thanks for the query.

Antibiotics should only be given after confirming that there is bacterial infection in some part of body.
Every time it is not necessary to give antibiotics as most of the diseases are of viral origin.
Also taxim-o (cefixime) should not be used for respiratory infection like cold, cough.

You can consult your doctor and ask him to perform some blood test to find out if there is any infection.

Hope i helped you.
