Can An Enlarged Prostate Cause Blood In Urine?
Father is 91 yrs. old under hospice past 4 months. Chronic kidney disease, severe edema, enlarged prostate. Frequent urge to urinate but could only dribble. Hospice tried unsuccessfully to insert catheter. ER successfully inserted catheter. Swelling and pain gone within 5 days. Then Blood with little urine. Thought stepped on cath tube. Back to ER to replace. Lots of clots. 3 days now urine still dark red. about 1100 cc output within 24 hr. Now only about 600 cc output so far today. Do you think possibly the prostate is now cancerous and spread causing the bleeding? If so at this age really no cure. Just palliative care?
