Can Advil Be Given To An Elderly Male For Cold And Cough?
\my father is 84 and has what appears to be a flu/chest cold and has a slight fever. He takes one blood pressure pill a day and no other medication. He is otherwise in very good health. Would advil be an appropriate course of treatment since \i have heard it is not good on the kidneys for senior
Your concerns are valid. Pain killers for long duration are harmful for kidneys. Having said that, advilcold & sinus products can be given to your father. Keep the treatment short and not more than 2 tablets a day. Take the dosage only after meals. Also encourage him to take plenty of fluids and fruits. Avoid chilled/ cold consumables. If symptoms persist or no improvement for more than 5 days kindly consult a physician.
Hope i solved the query. Thank You so much. Take care.
