Can Adult Nyquil Be Given For Sore Throat And Sleeplessness?

Can I give my daughter who will be 8 in 7 days weighs about 100lbs adult nyquil she has a really sore throat and having problems sleeping and nothing else I have tried is working. . And I heard cough syrup helps and thought it could also help her sleep.

Rather than cough syrups, antiallergic syrups are more helpful. Cough syrups are of two types, cough depressants and expectorants. NyQuil contains Dextromethorphan which depresses cough and I would not prefer giving it. You may give some expectorant instead. Steam helps in diluting the cough and acts as a good expectorant. Give steam inhalation as well as gurgling with lukewarm water. Antiallergics most often have some sedative action and may make your child sleep more.
