Can Acid Reflux Disease Cause Chronic Back Pain?

I have severe back pain both low and upper for past five years and from last year one more problem has joined that is severe chest pain on centre bone. My doctor said this is acid reflux syndrome. My treatment is completely helpless. No one can diagnose my problems exactly. Please help me cure my health problems.

Hi,

Acid reflux can cause pain behind the sternum (center chest bone) and water brash but very less likely lower backache.

The most important things in the management of acid reflux are diet and lifestyle modifications. It is advised to have frequent but small meals, avoid spicy foods and coffee especially at bedtime, have some walk after meals, and raise the bed end by about 5-10 inches.

If not controlled with these modifications, then we advise medicine such as Omeprazole, or Itopride. However, any drug should be started only after consultation with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
