Can A Person With SLE Have Paradoxical Reactions To Serrapeptase?

Have there been any reported incidents of someone with SLE having paradoxical reactions to serrapeptase? I have been in remission for several years. I do have pulmonary fibrosis in clean lungs caused by Doxil 3 years ago. I took 2 serrapeptase yesterday for the first time. Today, all of the symptoms of SLE appeared. Coincidence?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the serratiopeptidase is a very well tolerated drug molecule used as proteolytic enzyme in selected inflammatory conditions. It is not responsible for the reappearance of systemic lupus erythematous.

The side effect profile of the drug include many of the features which coincide with the SLE picture as:
- Generalised body rash with itching
- Malaise and bodyache
- GI upset with bloating
- Diarrhea and vomiting
- Others
Kindly consult your doctor to get treatment of the side effect of the serratiopeptidase at earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
