Can A Minor Increase In Lithium Dose Result In Worsening Of Depression?
My lithium dose was recently upped from 600mg a day to 750 a day. Since the dose was upped I ve been feeling more depressed. After the increase my lithium levels tested low (0.5) they were usually in the 0.7-0.9 range. I feel as though my depression has gotten worse and I ve also had moments of mania which I have not experienced in several months. Although there is a legitimate reason causing my depression, I feel like I m not handling as well as I used to be. Until now I ve had no thoughts of suicide no matter how bad things got and now those thoughts and feelings have returned. Is it possible that the minor dose increase is worsening my depression?
hi thanks for using HCM. it is unlikely due to increase in dose of Lithium. As you are suffering from bipolar disorder ( i assume ) , it is possible that currently you are having depressive episode, so it is better to consult your psychiatrist for management of depression also. There are multiple drug available to manage your condition. thanks
