Can A Low Carb Diet Cause Urinary Tract Infection?

I feel like I have a bladder or UTI. Feels like my bladder is full even when its not and then there is pain after I urinate. I am not running a fever. I have also been on the KETO (very low carb) diet for over a month. I read that being dehydrated on this diet can cause UTI symptoms, have you ever heard of that?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The low carb diet gives alteration in urine pH and metabolites, indirectly responsible for urinary infection.

If raising the quantity of water intake does not alter the symptoms, then discuss with your doctor about the diet changes.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
