Can A Cataract Surgery Help In Treating Gutata In The Eyes?

Have been told I have gutata in both eyes and am waiting to have bilateral cataract surgery. Also, now have dry eye syndrome and began restasis. I can have the gutata(s) evaluated at the San Diego Eye Bank prior to the cataract surgery to help determine what lens to use. Please comment...thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* Cataract surgery will correct visual acuity through the clearance of lens opacities and the determination of gutata depends upon the individual surgeon depending upon the type of cataract and other conditions of the patient.

* The cataract surgery does not correct dry eye syndrome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
