Can A Bladder Infection Cause Fluid Retention In The Lungs?

My father has MS and had a severe bladder infection, can this cause thick fluid secretion in his lungs. He did not have any infections I his lungs. No pneumonia or bronchial problems. All those test came back negative. He could not cough up anything or breathe properly on his own and had to be on a breathing tube for3 days. Would the bladder infection have caused this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my surgical experience, there is no connection of bladder infection with fluid retention in lungs directly. Though low immunity, systemic sepsis and inflammatory response may be secondary to existing bladder infection. Wishing your father fine recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
