Can Zofran Cause ECG Changes?

My question is I have been on long term Zofran 8mg po and now all of a sudden the doctors want me off of it saying it is unsafe due to potential ECG changes. Can Zofran cause ECG changes and if so is it something to have to come off of if the changes are present?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Zofran contains 'ondansetron', which blocks the actions of chemicals in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting.
Headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, fast heartbeat, tiredness and constipation are the common side effects encountered with the use of this medication.
Since it can cause increase in heartbeat, it might have caused changes in ECG. It would be better to avoid taking this medication and take other medication in its place.
Kindly follow the advise as given by your doctors.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
