Can Warfarin Cause Headaches And Fatigue As A Side Effect?
Hi my hi my husband has been taking warfarin since January 2011 for dvt in his left leg,he came off in July 2011 and by October 2011 he has had to take it for life as he was still breathless and they Ct scan showed lots of little PEs in each lung. Question ..... I often hear people saying their medication was changed from warfarin and they feel better. My husband often feels tired and sometimes gets headaches and just wondering if there is an alternative medication that might be better for him. He has no other health problems usually fit and well and enjoys going to the gym. He is 51years old. His heart was never affected and they are unsure why he ever had the dvt. Thank you in advance

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if Warfarin cause headaches and fatigue as a side effect . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sinusitis , diabetes, type 2 , multiple sclerosis , stress reaction , tension headache , medication reaction or side-effect , anemia . But in your case the symptoms are probably due to side effects of warfarin. Consult doctor , who prescribed thsi medicine so that he/she can alter the doe or prescribe substitute . I would suggest you to general practitioner for proper examination without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , ECG , troponin t test and take history . Doctor may also refer him to ENT specialist in case of sinusitis related problem . Doctor may order CT scan and examine ear with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin , along with anti inflammatory. For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain , take proper rest , do not exert your body and eat iron rich food like spinach . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist for high blood pressure .
