Can Tylenol Cause Painful Throat And Sweating In A Child On Strattera And Clonidine?

My son is almost nine. He has ADHD and takes Strattera for treatment and Clonodine for sleep. He complained of a headache. I gave him Tylenol. Then he started crying and complaining of his throat hurting. He pointed to the Trachea area when I asked him exactly where his throat hurt. It did not hurt when he swallowed. He was sweating and his body temperature seemed low. I took his temperature and it was 95.5. Do these symptoms describe anything that would be a concern?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Rather than a side effect / reaction of Tylenol, this probably suggests beginning of a pharyngitis. Give him Tylenol for 3 days. If not getting better by then, kindly take him to doctor as this might need antibiotics too. Meanwhile, avoid cold items and do warm saline gargles if possible.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
