Can TSH Test Help Understand The Thyroid Function?

I just had my thyroid function TSH test My results are 12.80 ulU/mL. It says that the standard range is .34-4.82 ulU/mL and has been flagged as High. A note on my test results says: Note new method (3rd GEN Siemens)-Values may be higher than previous method. What does this mean?

Hello dear
I understand your concern
You have High TSH value.
It could be due to hypothyroidism.
I would suggest to go for following test for further confirmation of cause:
Free T3, free T4, anti-TPO.
If free T3 and T4 will be come low then high TSH is due to hypothyroidism.
Drugs like thyronorm should be taken after consulting endocrinologist
Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise
Hope this may help you
Best regards
