Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Statin Cause Elevated Cholesterol Level In Blood?
M hdl and ldl have been normal in the last years with total cholesterol being 178.....I have heard such negative reports with the statin drug, I would like to stop. I am also on a blood thinner, clopidogrel and 81 mg aspirin each day. Do you think it would be ok to stop the statin drug?
I went through your details. I opine stopping statin is not a wise decision at this juncture. These medicines are prescribed to you by your physician or the specialist whom you see often. These medicines are prescribed after careful consideration and investigation of your physical conditions. These prescriptions are well thought off. Therefore, you should consult your doctor for any alterations in your prescription. Moreover, clarifications through online health sites without providing all the relevant details, I afraid, could misfire. Thanks for the question, but be careful and consult your doctor.
