Can Spironolactone And Carvedilol Be Taken Together?

I am taking 1/2 of spironolactone 25 mg daily. Today my doctor ordered Carvedilol 12.5 mg. 2x day. I just got the new pills and all is closed. I thought the Carvedilol was replacing the spironolactone, but now am unsure. Can both be taken together? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.

I would suggest you to take it only the way your doctor suggested you to, if you take them together, your blood pressure might fall to a dangerous extent as both lower the blood pressure , so i will advice you to contact your doctor or pharmacist and discuss this problem they will find out a way. But if your doctor has asked you to stop one medication you should not take them both, make it clear with your doctor if he says he ordered them both together then you can take them

I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.
Regards.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
