Can Serta Be Taken For A Long Duration?

Dear Doctor, Due to depression i have advised by the doctor to take serta 150mg in the morning and 50mg of clofranil daily. I am also taking pantacid DSR tablet along with the medicine. After taking these tablets i have really come out from the depression and anxiety. But my question is continuously taking these tablets should i consider some more precautionary steps or i can continue for a long run. My AGE is 38 as of now. I am taking this tablet for the last 5 years. Please guide me and suggest me with your knowledge. I have take care my mm, wife and 2 of my kids as well. so please give your valuable feedback sir. Hi,

I do not see serta but I am assuming SERTRALINE. Sertraline is quite commonly taken for years without many problems. Indeed, the problems are seen EITHER immediately after starting or adjusting a dose OR with stopping it. There are reports of withdrawal effects and certainly the depression can come back. It is hard to say on Clofranil. Recent reports link it to an increased risk of Alzheimers if used for many years.
