Can Ramipril Be Stopped Cold Turkey?

Hello. I m a 49 year old female with type 1 diabetes. I recently went to the ER and was diagnosed with angioedema. I have had swelling before in my lips and face, but this was the first time that my throat was affected. The ER doc asked what drugs I was on and immediately suggested that I quit taking Ramipril. I ve been on it for many years. It will be a week before I can see my doctor. Can I stop taking the Ramipril cold turkey? I imagine doc will recommend ARB, but am afraid to keep taking the ACE-inhibitor. Thank you.

Hi
Went through your post which you have elobrated nicely, ACE inhibitors are known to cause angiodema, however being a diabetic you will have to continue either ACE inhibitor or an ARB to protect your kidnies, ARB are the best alternatives as they have less chances of causing angiodema. Hope you are satisfied with answer.
