Can Quinapril And Amlodipine Be Taken Together?

I am taking 40mg of quinapril and 7 1/2 mg of amlodipine one time a day. My doctor just changed the amlodipine to 1 and 1/2 pills a day. Do I take these pills together or keep doing what I am doing? I take amlodipine in the morning and the quinapril at night. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Both are anti – hypertensive and can be taken together. There is no significant interaction between the two drugs. Quinapril causes dizziness as a side effect so it is better to take it at bed time. you are correctly taking – amlodipine in the morning and quinapril at bed time – continue this schedule. You can also adopt life style changes which will help you in controlling high BP.
Advice
1.     Consult your doctor for change of medicine or dose modification
2.     Start workout like walking, jogging, cycling, or swimming
3.     Take diet rich in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables
4.     Avoid oily and high cholesterol foods such as egg yolk and milk products etc
5.     Consume less salt
6.     Avoid smoking, alcohol, coffee and caffeinated beverages
7.     Lose extra weight if you are overweight
8.     Reduce your metal stress because stress activates sympathetic system and increases BP
9.     Measure your BP regularly
Thanks
