Can Psoriatic Arthritis Cause Break Outs And Flaky Scabs In Eyebrows And Nose?

Hi, i am 50 and suffering from fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. I have TMJ, and severe shoulder girdle pain, most severe between my shoulder blades dx as sub scapular bursitis per PT. I have started breaking out in my eyebrows and around nose with flaky scabs and kernel type pus pockets in my brows; this is unresponsive to promiseb.I have been ruled out for RA, but now with the flaky breakouts, i am wondering if I could have Psoritatic arthritis. i have the nail lifting in toes and some nails, and new knobs on the end joints of my pinky fingers. I am having severe pain in shoulder girdle, hand and feet. What do you think?

Dermatologist 's  Response
hi. I have read your question and understand your concern.

redness and flaking around eyebrows and nose is usually due to seborrheic dermatitis, but can also be seen in a patient of psoriasis. nail lifting (onycholysis) is quite characteristic of psoriasis. the joints you have mentioned (shoulder, hands & feet) can also be involved in psoriasis.

all in all you can be having psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. I suggest you see your dermatologist and rheumatologist, get examined properly and then arrive at a diagnosis.

hope this has solved your query. for any further questions please get back to us. thanks.
