Can Premarin Cream Be Used After Laser Treatment For Abnormal Cervical Cells?

What is the purpose of prescribing premarin vaginal cream after having had laser removal of abnormal cervical cells? Seeing that the risks of taking premarin are so severe can you opt to not take it? Are there greater risks associated with not using premarin after this type of procedure?

Hello,
Premarin is a conjugated Estrogen. Usually it's prescribed for Vaginal dryness after starting of menopause or any gynaecological procedure. Premarin may help in painful intercourse due to vaginal dryness. But long term use of it is not recommended.
Long term use of Premarin may lead to serious side effects like Heart diseases, blood clot- stroke, dementia. Premarin should be avoided in unusual vaginal bleeding and Cervical cancer cases.
In your case gynaecological consultation is must for clarification of Premarin prescription.

Thanks & Take Care,
Dr. Suraj D.
