General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Poison ivy treatment is usually limited to self-care methods. And the rash typically goes away on its own in two to three weeks. However, prednisone can be effective if the rash is widespread or results in a large number of blisters.

Prednisone is not effective against scabies. You are advised to consult your doctor for further evaluation and to confirm the diagnosis of scabies. For scabies treatment permethrin cream 5% or crotamiton lotion 10% or ivermectin tablet are found to be effective.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
