Can Prednisone Be Taken Along With Gabapentin And Desipramine?

My husband began taking Prednisone 5mg tablets and Baclofen 10 mg tablets about 24 hours ago for lower back pain. A few hours ago he began having uncontrollable jerking in his hands and arms and wasn t able to keep his balance. I don t see this listed as a side effect, but could it be? He also takes oral morphine, gabapentin, and desipramine for chronic back pain caused by arachnoiditis. Could this be a problem with drug interaction?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Loss of balance, abnormal moments like dystonia or even seizures are possible side effects of baclofen. These are though uncommon but have been mentioned and reported as side effects of baclofen. So this is possible these may be caused by the drug. I would suggest you should inform your doctor as we may need to stop the drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
