Steroids can cause an increase in blood pressure but because they reduce inflammation , they would more likely cause a decreased in the ESR and fever. Both fever and high ESR are due to inflammation in the body. Steroids reduce not increase inflammation. The fever and increase ESR would suggest that there is some source of inflammation still present in the body. It could be related to the Bells palsy or due to another infection.
