Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 100% disabled (combat related) 77 year old who receives some medications from the VA. I have recently been prescribed prazosin Hcl, 1mg. I am not sure to whom I should address my question. I know this is an alpha blocker which I previously took another alpha blocker prescribed by a civilian cardiologist. I have a complex medical history and take quite a few medicines, including Crestor 20mg. Should I discuss this with my cardiologist?
Hi welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have read your question and here is my advice. Sorry to hear of your sufferings . In fact crestor is a lipid lowering, and prazocin , as you said is an alpha blockr, there is no serious interaction between the two drugs. If indicated you can take both of the drugs. yes i would advise you take prazosin in the night as it can cause dizziness. You can start it , but always you can discuss with your cardalogist.
Hopes i have answered your question. I would be glad to answer any thing else you want to know in this regards. Kind Regards Dr Rahamn
