Can Pantoprazole Cause Black Coloured Stool With Mucus?
I am taking Pantoprazole 40 mg for 2 and half months for swallowing difficulty which has improved greatly. For one week I have had black small hard stools sometimes with mucus. I have never bowel trouble or this condition before. I had a colonoscopy just 3 mths ago without polpys. Is this a common side effect of the medicine...Should I stop the Pantoprazole? Thank you.

hello, usually pantoprazole does not cause blackening of the stools. there must be some other cause for the same. may be there is bleeding somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract causing blackening of the stools.
