Hi..I woke up with a red patch in the inner corner of my left eye today. I am not in pain and would not even know it is there unless I look in the mirror. I have been taking motrin for knee pain. Can that be causing this redness? my email is YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Motrin does not cause this type of redness in the eye.
This some sub-conjunctival hemorrhage.
This can be due to irritation due to fallen some foreign body or rubbing of eye.
Nothing to worry, within a day or two it will be resolved.
If you are elderly then this can appear due to sudden rise of blood pressure.
Go for measuring blood pressure.
Apply ice pack for a day or two.
Ok and take care.
