Can Morphine Sulfate Be Taken While On Oxycodone?
My 80 year old father with heart disease and sleep apnea was just prescribed morphine sulfate 15 mg tablet for elbow pain. He wad taking oxycodone on a regular basis for years for knee and back pain. I m worried about him taking this medicine. Should I be concerned?sa

Morphine is a stronger opioid than oxycodone. Morphine can produce deep sedation and can exacerbate sleep apnea in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. So we should be careful in giving morphine in patients with sleep apnea.
