I am 50 years old.For cough for the last 2 days Doctor has advised me to take MONOCEF O CV 200 twice for 5 days. Since I am in fasting in the month of Ramadan how should I take the medicine .can I take medicine one in the morning before food and one at nigt after food .please reply
Dear Ma'am, Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for the time of antibiotic intake during the holy month of Ramadaan.
Yes, it can be taken early in the morning and late at night. The dosage of Monocef O CV (Cefpodoxime, Clavulanic Acid) in the treatment of respiratory tract infection is 200 mg to be taken twice daily (12 hrs apart).
Since you have been fasting during the holy month of Ramadaan, you can take the prescribed medication just before the "sahoor" (the early morning breakfast) and after the "iftaar" (breakfast after the sunset).
Hope to have answered your query.
Best regards.
