Can Metrogyl Be Given For Stomach Ache In A Child?

My child of age 8 years is having stomach pain (mild) for the pastcone weak . Now can I give her metrogyl if yes then what should be the other accompanying medicines she is not haveving loosemotion and have no fever.....plz help me. Regards shikha ( mother)

Hi Shikha,
I am not sure why you want to give antimicrobial for a mild stomach ache. I would request you to consult a paediatrician. Metrogyl (metronidazole) is indicated only in certain diseases like amebiasis.
I suggest you to get your child evaluated by a paediatrician and do follow the prescriptions only. Self medication of antimicrobials is unnecessary and may lead to bacterial resistance on long run.
